John Stephen Piper (* 11. január 1946, Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA) je americký reformovaný baptistický teológ a učiteľ. Je autorom mnohých kníh s kresťanskou tematikou a zakladateľom organizácie Desiring God pomenovanej podľa jeho knihy. Jej cieľom je "šíriť nadšenie pre Božiu zvrchovanosť vo všetkých veciach pre radosť všetkých ľudí skrze Ježiša Krista“.

John Piper je tiež známy svojimi názormi na kresťanský hedonizmus, a pre svoju výnimočnú obhajobu kalvinizmu je niektorými nazývaný "superstar kalvinizmu".

V rokoch 1974 – 1980 vyučoval biblistiku na Bethel College v St. Paule v Minnesote; od roku 1980 pôsobil niečo vyše 30 rokov ako pastor cirkevného zboru Bethlehem Baptist Church v Minneapolise.

Vo svojej teológii nadväzuje na Jonathana Edwardsa.

„Reformovaná teológia, ako ju ja rozumiem, je chápanie Boha a Jeho spôsobu konania vo svete, ktoré rastie ako strom s mnohými vetvami z hlbokého presvedčenia, že Božia sláva je cieľom všetkých vecí, a Jeho sloboda a Jeho zvrchovanosť sú kľúčové pre Jeho božskosť, a že preto že je slobodný, zvrchovaný a slávny, nepotrebuje nikoho aby mu slúžil pre naplnenie Jeho potrieb, a preto je slávne slobodný aby bol ku nám milostivý.“

„Chceme, aby aj iní mali tú sladkú skúsenosť odpočinku v obrovskom uistení z týchto právd. Chceme, aby aj iní cítili tú náramnú motiváciu pre spravodlivosť a misiu vytekajúcu z týchto právd. Chceme, aby ďalší mali tú skúsenosť poznania a dôvery v suverénnu Božiu milosť, a to takým spôsobom, aby Boh a iba Boh dostal slávu.“
